Beginning and ending therapy

Starting our work together involves coming to understand a little more about how we both think.

Normally we’d meet for an initial session, which gives a time to think about possibilities and what you are looking for, and then arrange regular times to meet if we’d like to work together.

Therapy takes a while because change is gradual and people often find there are more things to explore, but eventually the time will come when it makes sense to think about concluding our work together. It’s usually best to think about that over a little while rather than make a quick ending, so that there is a sense of the work drawing to a natural conclusion.

Some people choose to return some time later, with a sense that that conclusion was more of a natural pause point because an exploration of the unconscious has more to give.
